Support for children, teenagers and their important adults
Children and young people can show distress in many different ways. They may become anxious, withdrawn, angry, overwhelmed, sensitive, shut down, hard to reach or unable to explain what is happening inside them.
San provides trauma-informed counselling for children and young people, with careful attention to safety, trust, pacing and family context. Sessions may include talking, play, creative approaches, sandtray, family conversations and support for parents or carers.
This service may support
• Children or young people affected by trauma, grief, anxiety or change
• Young people who are neurodivergent or who experience the world differently
• Families wanting help to understand behaviour, emotions and relationships
• Parents and carers seeking practical, compassionate support
Working with families
When working with children and young people, the important adults around them matter. San works collaboratively and respectfully with parents, carers and families, while also protecting the young person's dignity, privacy and therapeutic safety.
